Christmas

Two brand new babies in our family for Christmas - what could be better? My house is full, with Gavin, Brian and Lola visiting. Rory and I have moved down to the downstairs bedroom, which is very cozy. Rory sleeps swaddled tight on a changing pad on a piano bench at the end of my bed, and seems happier there than in the little crib in my bedroom. Lola spends a lot of time talking and singing to herself when she is supposedly napping - it's like little bird sounds coming from the loft.
We spent Christmas cooking pies in the morning, skyping Grandma and Grandpa in Arizona,

and then spending the evening with Brian's family, who were so warm and generous. I loved it. This year is all about families expanding in expected and unexpected ways.

Lola was handed all around the table, which was hilarious: she had a very serious, slightly worried expression while she fulfilled her familial duty.

Rory slept like he had been drugged the whole time - a very mellow little cowboy. He got kisses from Aleta delivered via cell phone when he got home to make the day perfect.
