It is so wonderful to have my parents here. I keep marveling at the total and immediate shift that has happened, and it seems even more real to see how that shift has happened for our whole family. I love seeing Mom and Dad holding and talking to Rory.
Watching them take care of him is wonderful, and makes me remember how loved they made me feel growing up. I remember crawling into bed with them on Saturday mornings, and how there was no warmer or safer place in the world. They could make an adventure out of everything, from making french toast to building a fort out of couch pillows for optimal cartoon watching. Gavin and I have talked about how we hope we have as much fun with Lola and Rory, and give them as many good memories.
